krisb
I visited Shaggy's yesterday and we had an informal farmers' meeting. We discussed how and where we could set up a farm in Thailand. One of the interesting aspects that came out was we agreed that focusing on 1 crop is very dangerous. Also I learned never to trust a guy carrying two bottles of Bacardi. Thats my type of meeting!

David48
Extending one of the rice paddies. Excellent well framed shot, Shaggy Agreeing with DAL ... I did like the framing ... when you say 'extending' ... what was there before? What was the use of the land that you are now 'extending' over? Your next shot below Kubota ... that soil looks very sandy. Is it ... does it hold water if used for a paddy field? .

Is it ... does it hold water if used for a paddy field? . when you say 'extending' ... what was there before? It already was a rice paddy David,we just made it bigger. The ground that we removed was used to raise an area for the chickens. that soil looks very sandy. Yes the ground was very sandy,it surprised me that anything could grow. Managed to grow rice in the rainy season, corn and beans in between. does it hold water if used for a paddy field? I hope that this answers you question. and grew very good healthy rice.
