floridaguy Posted January 17, 2013 Share Posted January 17, 2013 Ok, guys, another project for my idle hands. It is an NC30 that has a little custom work done. The bike is as I bought it. My question is, what front end is this? I am thinking it is from a CBR600RR, as many of the parts off that bike are interchangeable with NC30's. The forks, brakes calipers and brake discs look to be a complete set. Upside down forks, and much larger disc diameter. I need new fork seals, as oil is slowly leaking out, and will change the oils as well, but I need to know what I am ordering for. karlos Posted January 17, 2013 Share Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) As far as i can see it has the calipers from the early ZXR400(H model) and brackets have been made to allow them to work with the larger discs The forks are off of a ZXR250, but the front discs??? It's most likely the stock VFR400 discs but the holes are drilled further apart than my Swiss cheese NC30 discs...... They are not ZXR400 discs, as their holes are drilled at a sweeping angle. I checked to make sure they are not NC24 discs and someone's trying to sell you a dressed up NC24, glad to see those discs are not NC24 discs, it's possible that they are the earliest NC30 discs but i don't have enough time to look properly lol Here's the calipers (ZXR400H calipers) Here's the front discs on my 92 NC30 and the forks are above in the ZXR250 photo Edited January 17, 2013 by karlos 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
karlos Posted January 17, 2013 Share Posted January 17, 2013 (edited) Just noticed it has an RVF rev counter too... Only the RVF NC35 rev counter rests at 6 o'clock Word of warning, make that brake lever has enough clearance and gap on the master cylinders piston, once the fluid warms up it has been know for incorrectly fitted or the wrong levers all together to apply pressure to the calipers once the fluid has warmed up. just make sure you give them a good look over mate. There are some minor scratches on the fairings from careless removal/installations of the fairings that need tending to, and some minor cosmetic touch ups needed to the frame and wheels. Should be an easy job. I might go with a full glossy factory Honda red on this one. The motor on the black one seems peppier, but I know there is something wrong with the coils or plugs on this one. It is getting weak spark and not pulling very hard. I have new plugs on order from Japan and will see if that does the trick. She's gone now, made way for my 2012 Ninja 650. I have been talking to the other half and i've got the go ahead for a track bike, i'm seriously considering another NC30 but it's hard to find a good one, i think a much newer ZX6R or CBR600RR without a book would be the best option but i sure do miss that V4 and gear driven cam sound......
