Red Shirts' Amnesty Plan Is Short On Details

Democracy is to Red Shirts what tennis is to guppies.

Reds expect amnesty from Yingluck, just like a 5 year old expects to be pardoned by his mom for using crayons to color the living room walls.

I pardoned my 5 year olds for crayoning the walls.

What did you do ??

Beat them ??

The red shirts aren't 5 year olds, although they do act like them a lot.

No they're not. Five year olds are far more intelligent and creative.

As a last resort, when they continue to do it again and again for months. Now they understand that willful misbehaviour has repercussions.

'misbehavour', your very generous.

Red shirts' amnesty plan is short on detalis brains.

Red shirts are short on detalis brains.

Not true!! They do have them, but they just do not function properly (if at all).

This little exchange is a succinct summary of the great intellectual prowess and deep understanding of Thai politics that the four of you possess.

Well done.

Given the great intellectual prowess and deep understanding of arithmetic that you possess, how many different posters is that again?

.

I learned something today. 1+1+1= 4. Well done.

"except for rally organisers and masterminds behind the political violence."

This seems a little out of character for Thida........wonder if it includes all "Organisers" and so called "Masterminds"?...I have a suspicion that maybe some of these people

might be excused.

Not sure Mr T will be too happy about this.

No problem his name will never be on the list of Organjisers, let alone Mastermind! remember how many times he has claimed he's finished with Politics?

Only in Thailand can you burn down the center of the capital,

hold the country hostage .... then get a criminal whitewash

Only in Thailand can you take over the country's major airport,

hold the country hostage .... then get a criminal whitewash

Rubbish. Was anyone hurt at the airport, apart from missing their precious flights? No

Was anything set on fire? No

Was any one there armed ? No

Not even in the same ballpark. The took Ghandi's stance and protested, non violently.

But the reds, being masters at turning the tables using smoke and mirrors actually did burn stuff down, were armed, and were violent...

The only people suggesting a whitewash for the airport protest are the red shirts.

Quite.

The cases may be proceeding regrettably-slowly, which seems to be the norm, but they are proceeding ! thumbsup.gif

No Double Standards ... as they may some day regret having proclaimed ?

However the Reds/DSI have yet to find a way to blame former-PM Abhisit, for the PAD's actions at the airport, or for then-PM Somchai's failure to call an election before his loss-of-power, or even for his obvious full-responsibility for setting fire to all those buildings after the events of 2010 ? They must try harder ! rolleyes.gif

I agree. Lucky Lew stuck his foot in it and tracked it on this thread. The Yellows were demonstrating along the lines of a classical non-violent style. The Reds showed their colors when they harmed people and property on a large scale. It's like comparing fruit salad with hog's head soup.

The funny thing is that the only people pushing for amnesty are Thaksin and the red shirt leaders.

Why would this be?

Murder, arson, assault and a whole battery of charges?

Was any one there armed ? No

Protesters from the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD), some armed with metal rods, stormed the airport on Tuesday night and appeared to be digging in for long siege in an effort to raise the stakes in the confrontation with the government.

Rubbish.

If you don't read the news you are uninformed, if you do you are misinformed.

Rubbish? So you don't consider al jazeerah a credible news source? Or simply because what they reported doesn't fit in with your minutely microscopic view of things?

No doubt if they reported that the yellow protestors were completely unarmed and the4 cops kicked the living cr@p out of them you'd be praising their unbiased stance from the rooftops.

Irrespective of your position on the red/yellow <deleted> anybody who thinks that not a single person was armed in some way or another at the airport siege has a serious case of the dumbs and knows nothing about the Thai political situation. Of course the alternative being that a justifiable hatred of all things Thaksin means a single minded obtuseness to anything slightly negative about the opposition.

I'm done. With few exceptions on both sides of the fence the chance of having a meaningful exchange on TVF regarding the political situation is an exercise in futility.

more people get beat up on an average night at a Phuket or Pattaya night club area, than all the Yellow demonstrations put together - with one exception. There was a Yellow shirt woman protestor who was shot by (what was believed to be) a military weapon at the Government House site. Of course no effective investigation was done in that case.

I think you will find that the PAD at all stages of that demo were protected by the army in civvies. Simply no violence because nobody wants to take on the army...they have bigger and more guns. Where the reds were in direct conflict with the army hence all the bloodshed

I think factually speaking, you are correct to say there were some yellows armed at the airport. They obviously shouldn't have been. For the most part however, those weapons were relatively "low-grade", iron bars and the like, and were not used, people weren't physically threatened, assaulted or killed, not in any significant number anyway. We can of course speculate whether they would have been, had the authorities tried removing them forcefully, but we can't try them of things they hadn't yet done.

Whilst i agree it's important to recognise that the yellows have been armed at times and are guilty of some incidents of violence, it's also important to recognise that the yellow's track history with regards this stuff reads quite differently from the red's track history, in terms of scale, in terms of weapons used, in terms of causalities, in terms of deaths, in terms of damage and destruction... and it is possible to recognise all these differences without condoning any of the violence on either side.

The PAD are protected by the army. The reds are shot at by the army. Get the picture

Please read my previous posts. The only dead at PAD rallys were caused by the army. Throwing grenades off flyovers into the people they were protecting...purely to whip up the tension similar to when one of there own threw a grenade into a group of their own officers to justify shooting at will with live ammo

I would really like for you to provide substantial evidence of your claim if you can. If you can't then it is only your opinion.

So the Army was protecting the Yellow Shirts, and killing them at the same time.

Brilliant.

Can't speak for the above post, but as far as showing the proof for the below post, I'll say I was staggered as how quick and easy it is to prove.

I think you will find that the PAD at all stages of that demo were protected by the army in civvies.

A review of dozens of photos from many different sources clearly shows other people in the airport besides the PAD members.

AND

Incredibly, they are dressed in civilian attire.

In fact, nearly almost every single person (men, women, and children, too) in these photos, that's not a yellow shirt, is dressed in civilian clothes.

100 % Proof Positive that the Army was there and that they were incognito...and that they were there to protect PAD...

In fact, astounding as it may sound, nearly almost every single man, woman, and child there at the airport were Army soldiers... all covertly wearing civies.

The sneaky bast*rds !!...

It's a staggering revelation and blows the lid off a lot of previously held understandings.

Thanks, backtonormal.
