Is it possible to see how the font looks like before installing it? I wouldn't want to install 100 font types without knowing how they look like.

If you have a copy of ACDSee 6.0 (image viewer) or greater it will display the fonts.

Also a free viewer http://members.ozemail.com.au/~scef/tft.html

Java based (requires java run time) http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.p...ckage_id=109631

And a bunch of viewers: http://www.itsfree4u.com/fontt.shtml

Could you tell me how these “fonts” are packaged ie. zip file or auto setup program or a downloadable program from a web site that automatically installs them after the download?

The fonts may be zipped. Unzip to a temporary folder.

The file type will be .ttf

I use Ifan as my image viewer and simply clicking on the font file shows me the sample page.

To install you go to /Contol Panel/Fonts.

Select File/Install new font on the tool bar at the top of the page.

You can then select the folder where the new fonts are stored and select the

ones you wish to install.

You don’t say what version of what operating system you use.

On your computer, what happens if you simply double click on a TTF file?

I'm on XP Pro. Nothing happens when I double click them.

Thanks all for your replies.

Then something is funny with your Windows. I also have Windows XP Pro and the attached window opens when I doubleclick on a TTF file, regardless of which folder it is in.

nope not on mine. due for a reformat anyway.

cheers!

Right click on a font file (.ttf) and select "Properties" then change "Opens with" to fontview.exe in the Windows\System32 directory. Maybe you lost your association with it somewhere.
