Thai Airasia Goes For Bigger Market Share

I've never stayed in one yet, but paying extra for a towel, tv, air con, etc kind of bothers me. Really, I have to pay extra for a towel? I suppose the people that don't use the TV/wifi/air-con/towel would be happy to save some additional money though.

You are confusing necessities with extras. I am happy to have a seat, seatbelt and light on my flight and will pay for anything else I want. I am also happy NOT to be paying for alcohol, crap meal, etc, and in the hotel not paying for a gymnasium, swimming pool, library and over-priced restaurant with room service.

Locations for Thailand are in Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, and Hat Yai.

Right. But on this Thai themed website, in this Thailand News sub-forum, ovenman was talking about some place completely different.

From my research on the Bangkok and Pattaya locations of Tune hotel, they seemed a bit overpriced for the amenities included.

Yeah, ya gotta watch him. Sometimes he wanders off into irrelevant connections like that. I think its old age with him.

But, I bet he's also stayed in some of those Thailand properties, as well, so we can wait for his reply on experiences in any of those locations.

Ask and ye shall receive... I stayed at Tune Hotel in Hat Yai last month for 120 baht/night and I have a room booked at the Tune Hotel in Bangkok next month for three nights at 120 baht/night. Is that relevant enough?

Has anybody stayed at Air Asia's new hotels? They look interesting, but slightly overpriced.

Slightly overpriced? I did five nights at the Tune hotel in Penang last year for 5.85 ringgit total (~60 baht)

For about the same price you can get five fresh daily copies of The New Straits Times newspaper and sleep on it in Fort Cornwallis park at night.

I actually prefer the The Star to the NST myself. wink.png

You got lucky. The lowest I can find for Bangkok is around 940 baht per night. I checked March, April and May. 940B is not a good deal, IMO. 120B is a fantastic deal though!

Rate = 799 baht

Service charge (10%) = 80 baht

VAT (7%) = 61 baht

You really gotta get at it early and watch the sales like a hawk. There's deals to be had, same as with AirAsia. It's more a case of "ever vigilant" than luck! smile.png
