HAMBURG: -- Tony Sheridan, a musician who was mentor to the legendary Beatles, has died in Hamburg at the age of 73.

newsjs

A peer of John Lennon’s, he met up with the Liverpool Four on tour in Hamburg in 1960. They became friends and soon appeared on stage together.

Sheridan took the musicians under his wing and oversaw their first professional recording debut.

Already a prominent figure on the rock scene, Tony chose the Beatles as a backup group - he performed the lead vocals himself.

It is believed that the album My Bonnie, recorded in Hamburg in 1961 marked a turning point in the history of the quartet.

TS with the "Beat Boys" is one of the only recordings featuring the Fab 4 without Ringo but with Pete Best and, i think, stuart sutcliff... as his backing group!!, he certainly was a starring part in music history. and of course Norwich Boy :) RIP
