<p>2013-02-22 16:09:41 GMT+7 (ICT) </p><br /> <p>LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (BNO NEWS) -- Three people were killed Thursday and several others were injured in a car-to-car gun battle and fiery crash at a major intersection in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, officials said, but few details about the exact circumstances were immediately known.<br /></p><br /><p>Investigators believe the incident began shortly after 4 a.m. local time on Thursday when an altercation took place in the valet parking area of the Aria Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, which is known as the Entertainment Capital of the World and offers huge hotel complexes which line the world famous Las Vegas Strip.<br /></p><br /><p>Two vehicles which were involved in the altercation then exited the valet parking area into the northbound travel lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard, where the occupants of a black Range Rover opened fire at a Maserati passenger vehicle. Both vehicles continued driving northbound as the gun battle went on.<br /></p><br /><p>A short time later, the Maserati entered the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road, causing multiple traffic accidents involving five other vehicles. One of the vehicles was a taxi cab which caught fire as a result of the powerful collision, killing the driver and his passenger.<br /></p><br /><p>Both the driver and passenger of the Maserati were transported to University Medical Center of Southern Nevada where the driver was pronounced deceased, raising the overall death toll to three. Three other occupants of other vehicles involved in the collision were also taken to area hospitals with minor to moderate injuries, and several others declined treatment at the scene.<br /></p><br /><p>The black Range Rover from which the shots were fired fled the scene of the incident and was last seen traveling northbound on Las Vegas Boulevard, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. The vehicle is described as a newer model Range Rover with tinted windows and large black rims and was occupied by several black male adults.<br /></p><br /><p>Police have released few details about the incident, but Sheriff Doug Gillespie said the passenger in the Maserati had been shot.<br /></p> <p> tvn.png
