jayci
If I have 3000 Pha Nin in a 1 Rai pond with no cages, will the final yield be the same if have 3000 fish that where kept in cages/hapas in a 1 rai pond? Keeping all other things equal like feeding rates, time... Just thinking the management would be easier if using cages, easy to harvest, reduced predation and inspect fish. Or is the cost of cages to prohibitive and just better to have fish directly in the pond? Was considering using hepas for the first two months of growth just to have good security for the little fellas. And then release into the pond. Would also have koong in the above setups, will having koong have an impact on disceding on what to use? Ideas much appreciated. Chris
ozzydom
Fish in cages need water flow to effect water exchange ,without continuous pumping this is unattainable in a stillwater pond. To stock at 3000 per rai you will need a good efficient aeration system, not such a problem until fish reach 300gram then the first event of oxy depletion or an ammonia bloom and disaster. Without aeration 1500 Pla Nin per rai is more workable
