It Depends How You Look

Waterfall butterfly

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Yesterday (March 8th), I was going to the Bang Pae waterfall, to make pictures of

Butterflies, as it is my hobby. At the entrance, the guard, Mr. T.........,

asked me 200 baht although I showed him my thai driving-licence. I made him

observe that the entry price was only 20 bath, but he, and his two friends

or collegues, laughed at me.

Starting in Chalong, this trip tells, go and back, 66 km. With the benzine prices always raising, it is a missed trip that costs me a lot, and dont speak about the affront at the entrance gate.

In januari 24th this year, I went to the Hua Hin Waterfall and, on showing

the same driving-licence, I payed the normal 20 bath fee. I can show you

this receipt of it.

I would be happy to know the official entrance-fee for a Farang as me, residing officially in Thailand.

The regulation is: Thais 20 baht, foreigners 200 baht. Official thinking is

that a) Thais are poorer than foreigners and :o Thais pay taxes that are

used to maintain the parks and pay park officials' salaries. The only

exception, officially, is for foreigners who hold work permits (and, it is

assumed, pay tax).

That said, some park officials are more flexible than others, and some are

more robust about standing up to foreigners.

Does it depend how I look ?

To save missing out on the trip, maybe this time you should have bitten the bullet and paid it.. it happens everywhere, you don't have to like it to still have a good time :o

I've read that producing the Thai driving licence will grant you the privilidge to pay the reduced fee.. but as in everything, it's open to interpretation to those in chanrge.. TiT

totster :D

:D The truth is hard to accept I guess for some! :D

My whole point is who do you think is missing out? Those selling the admission at the waterfall aren't going to lose any sleep over this, and certainly won't change their ways for you. It is what it is. :D

Are you Thai ?

A thai driving licence doesn't make you one, so pay the price. :o

If you don't move, anything won't change as...... .

You can certainly try, certainly won't hurt apart from your time/effort. Problem is most farang won't think twice about paying 200BHT. Its a tourist attraction, so unless you change the dynamics of those willing to pay 200bht all hope is lost.

What are you speaking about ?

Jesus, are you blind ?

When I go to a national park, the most people I can see is Thai and not Farang and they let garbage everywhere but, because they pay tax, they can do what they want. I have to cry when I read your answer. How is possible to be so stupid ?

I told you, if you don't move and if you always stay in front of your screen like a larva, nothing won't change.

I'm so sad, so ... .

Let Thailand as they like to stay in. Bua !

Right you are, Sonthaya.

It's worth trying the Thai driving licence.... I've gotten into the National Park at Ko Chang on my last two trips there for 20 bt. But- if they wanted 200, I was prepared to pay with no argument. 200 Bt isn't going to break me or ruin my weekend.

You obviously can't accept different answers & opinions on a topic you started on this web forum. Calling other posters stupid & getting irate over a few harmless comments is a sure fire way to getting yourself banned anyway, so until you can post in a resonable manner & without insulting other posters, please do not post again.
