Tree Shadow blamed for drunken road crash in Jomtien
PATTAYA:--The shadow of a tree onto the road was mistaken for a pedestrian and reportedly caused a single-vehicle road crash on the Sukhumvit Road in Jomtien early on Tuesday Morning.

Police and rescue services were called to the location just before 3am to deal with the crash involving a Bronze Toyota Vios driven by Khun Amporn aged 40 who Police described as extremely intoxicated.

He seemed in good spirits despite flipping his car in the central reservation and sustaining minor injuries. He joked with us that he was so drunk he missed a turning into Soi Kao Noi in Central Pattaya and carried on along the Sukhumvit Road after spending the night drinking with friends.

Unfortunately, drunk driving is just a joke in Thailand, both Thai and farang.

I think the thread title is very misleading.

I hope there is only one person who actually believes the shadow was the primary cause of the accident.

I don't for one minute believe his story......which apparently he felt was funny..... I hope that the police don't also.

The plain fact is, he was a "drunken driver"

And for that he ....and all drink drivers.....whatever their nationality ....should be "locked up" and the keys thrown away.

Before they kill somebody......

I doubt that it was the shadow of the tree per se .

Khun Amporn was probably claiming that the trees shadow jumped out in front of him and he swerved to avoid it.

Just lucky he only harmed himself. Taking his licence (if he has one) away will not help. Either a very large fine or jail, but will not be holding breath. Idiot.

Oh I'm bein' followed by a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow
Leapin' and hoppin' on a moonshadow, moonshadow, moonshadow

I remember the day I knew I needed glasses. I was in The States and driving on the highway during the day. Ahead of me I thought I saw a person or a bear in the middle of the road. It was a shadow ohmy.png A few days latter I picked up my first pair of glasses.

I doubt it those type of glasses the subject of the thread wants, he would be more interested in the ones full of booze.

Hic ! "Yep Officer & then this tree just jumped out & bit my Car"
