PATTAYA:--In the early hours of Tuesday Immigration Officers received a tip-off that a large number of foreign nationals were staying in one small rented room in South Pattaya.

Officers went to the room at the Prima Place Apartments on Pattaya Third Road and found 11 men of Sri Lankan Nationality inside. It was decided to take the men away for further questioning despite the fact they all had valid visas in their passports.

Questioning revealed that they are part of a human trafficking operation whereby they would arrive in Thailand through a Shipping Port and then leave to a third country when ordered to do so. The group told Police that 20 Sri Lankan’s in their group had already left Thailand through the Laem Chabang Port onto their final destination where they would work for little or no money according to the Immigration Officers.

The other alternative is they were looking for a boat to Christmas Island.
