Type Of Visa Needed For Wife

Featured Replies

My husband has had a work permit in Thailand for 4 yrs. In January of this year he changed organizations so he turned in the first work permit. His non imm RA visa expired Jan.29 along with all the family's visas (we all had the same date, I assume under his visa?) Currently, we all have tourist visas for 2 months (husband, wife 3 kids under 7 yrs old). My husband's new organization started the work permit process in Jan and we were told that the paper work is finished and they will let us know when we can go to KL I guess to get his new non imm RA visa. The new organization says the whole family must go as well because we are all on tourist visas. (Four years ago only my husband had to leave but then we were new to Thailand and still had good non imm o visas). Does anyone know if that means we (wife and kids) have to be on a non o visa? I

Thank you so much.

My guess is the company want you all to go to KL to obtain Non Imm O's so that they can be extended in accordance with your new husbands extension of stay when granted...........however i would of thought you could convert your present Tourist visa to Non Imm O without leaving the country .........see below from Immigration Bureau website,

http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/ba...p?page=service#

I/m not 100% though so maybe a visit to Immigration is in order just to make sure.

Edit....you/ll need to click on "change of visa" on the link and go from there.
