sometime
Noticed that a couple of starters for the fluorescent lightshave a dim glow, we had this problem before when the electric boys connectedthe wires to the meter the wrong way round. This time no work has been done that I know about, but now Ihave 183 volt on the neutral & 31 volts on the live, could this ruin my electricalequipment, by the time they get it sorted. Crossy
Measure your voltages to a big screwdriver in the lawn (real earth). A L-N swap could have serious consequences for those who have a MEN installation leading to lots of live metalwork around your home, not something you would want. For those on a TT installation (no MEN link) swapping L-N is not likely to damage your kit, but is still a hazard to your health because all the wiring will be live even if you think it's turned 'off'. Hi Crossy The reading I took was from the earth stake in the garden, thanks
Crossy
In that case you appear to be on a TT system and to have a L-N reversal. Not immediately hazardous to your health but needs fixing pronto. If there's a L-N swap somewhere in the 3-phase distribution system think yourself lucky, some other poor soul has 400+ V between their 'L' and 'N'
