I have been in Thailand for exactly 5 weeks now. Usually, I only go out on Saturday Night. I've only been to Zoe Bar and a few Thai places that locals go. I like Zoe a lot because it's like the nightclubs/bars back at home (America).

I am looking for places to go and things to do that is lively throughout the weekday. Monday through Friday.

I prefer places where there are more people who are staying here long term versus just tourists. I want to make new friends and expand my social circle.

Any suggestions? It could be bars, markets, festivals, anything.

Songkran festival is coming up.. that's going to be a blast. For other areas to check out, probably Nimmanhaemin (incl. all the sois) deserves a good look.

There are a few open little bars in the world renowned Loi Kroh Road, sort of grab a granny establishments, where even a 60 year old guy and still be a toy boy, or the smelly big Warorot Market, and err, can`t think of anything else. Otherwise, Bangkok is only 55 minutes away by plane.

This is really an appeal for a chaperone!

walk the entire moat....1 hour. Get an account with May Bank and trade SET. Study Thai. Shopping malls much better on weekdays. 9 thb ice cream. Visit CMU. Get teeth cleaned. Get bus tickets at arcade. get blood/urine checked at McCormick. find best lunch spots. play badminton, look mowie, or ask one of the older guys about the Chicken House.

The zoo is quite good, also Doi Suthep and there is a nice Lanna museum in the old city. A very good Thai museum close to Wat Jed Yod.

Don't forget any of the botancial gardens; the one on Doi Suthgep, and also the big one off canal road (forgotten the namne).

I am looking for specifics, not just in general. I'm from San Francisco and just about every weekend, there is a festival or some free concert. I visited a few Wats when I was on vacation in Phuket, but I've been there and done that. I'm not really into sightseeing.

I train Muay Thai daily, but the rest of the day, I'm wondering what to do. I've been to a few markets, The one on south east side of the moat, Ton Lamyai and surrounding markets. Sunday Market. I've been to Doi Suthep.

Whatever, I guess this will just be a dead thread.
