Uk Father, Lao Mother - Newborn In Thailand...

Featured Replies

Hello, can anyone help me on this one?

What will be the status of our newborn child with a Uk Father & a Lao Mother in Thailand?

1, If we were married in Thailand?

2, If we were not married?

3.Would the child get free medical care?

4, Would the child recieve free schooling?

5, Would I be able to get a Non Imm O based on support for child born in Thailand?

Thanks in advance for any imput.

1. If married the child might have both Lotian and British nationality. Both countries have their own rules.

2. If not married, the child will be Laotian only and you will not be considered the father until you legitimise the child.

See: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/381917-how-to-gain-parental-rights-as-a-father/

3. Not sure, I don't think so as the child doesn't fall under the healthcare scheme's (unles the mother works and pays social security)

4. Probably yes.

5. No, the child doesn't have Thai naitonality. When the child goes to school in Thailand and you ae the legal father, you could get an extension of stay with 500,000 baht in the bank.

Thanks for your great reply, I suppose the best thing to do would be to start a legit company, then my future wife could work & pay taxes & social security.

Thanks for the support Mario.
