Suicide Bomber Attacks Party Meeting In Northern Pakistan, At Least 17 Dead

Featured Replies

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least seventeen people were killed after a suicide bomber attacked a political party meeting in northern Pakistan, local authorities said Tuesday.

A public meeting was being held by the Awami National Party (ANP) in the Yakatoot area of Peshawar, the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, when the suicide attack took place.

According to Peshawar's Capital City Police Officer Liaquat Ali who spoke with Geo TV, the suicide bomber was standing among the 200 to 300 ANP workers attending the meeting when he jumped in front of a party leader's vehicle and detonated the explosives.

ANP leaders Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Haroon Bilour survived the attack, but at least 17 people were confirmed dead and around 60 others were injured. Emergency teams rushed the wounded to local hospitals, as authorities fear an increased death toll.

The Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan claimed responsibility of the attack. As the country prepares to hold polls in May, the attack marks the fourth politically-related attack in the last three days.

17 dead here (not 3) and the response... tumbleweed2.gif

Had a drone taken out a similar number of terrorists the indignation would no doubt have followed in buckets.

That's because posts pointing this out are deleted.

There are no posts deleted in this thread, except for an off-topic comment which has nothing to do with this topic or drone strikes.

Exactly!

Just seen the thread, saw the number of replies and was going to make a similar comment, you beat me to it. The lack of response says everything though. This stuff is going on all over the world everyday, and nobody gives a crap until it happens in a 'civilized' country. It seems that if humans have a currency value then 17 Pakistani men, women and children are far less valuable than 3 US men, women and children. Does anyone know if this story even made any media appearance in the US? Don't get me wrong, the Boston bombing was utterly appalling, but isn't this as equally appalling?
