Hi there,

I am still in sweden for the moment, but i am going to Thailand soon. I am planning to travel for a about 2.5 months and will apply for a 60 days tourist visa. I will probably be staying in Thailand for 1.5 months and then go to Malaysia for some days and return back to Thailand.

Can I do this with the 60 days tourist visa? That i can leave the country and entry again and still keep my 60 days (or the days left) on my visa?

And where can I renew my visa beside the one in Bangkok?

Thanks for the help! :o

Cheerrss!

Eva

PS. Can't wait till the day i leave cold sweden....brrr.....

Your tourist visa allows 60 day stay and you plan only 45 - no problem. You go to Malaysia and on your return you receive a 30 day stamp - no problem as you only plan to remain in Thailand about 3 weeks.

The other thing you could do is obtain a re entry permit to allow you to stay until the normal 60 days are up but as that would only be another week or two it is not worth it (1,000 baht) and you would then also have to extend your 60 day stay for another 30 days at another 1,900 baht. Just get the free entry and save 2,900 baht and two trips to immigration.

thanks for the help!

But i am going to be Traveling for approx. 80 days...and after 40 days iam going Malaysia? then it seems like i need to extend my visa..or am i totally wrong now?

So if i get the 30 days stamp...do the days left on my 60 days visa count to the 30 days too?

No. Your 60 day tourist visa is used up when you leave Thailand, unless you apply in Thailand for a re-entry permit before you leave. If you go back into Thailand with the re-entry permit, they will grant you days based on your tourist visa, and not give you the '30 days on arrival'. The 30 days on arrival stamp is intended for people who have no visa when they enter.

My suggestion is that when in Malaysia, you go to either the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur or the Thai consulate in Penang (Georgetown), and apply there for another 60 day tourist visa. That should solve it ok... right lop?

Post one said you were staying 2.5 months and leaving for Malaysia after 1.5 months (leaving one more month) and staying in Malaysia a number of days so you would not need more than a 30 day entry to cover that period (one month less the time in Malaysia).

Now it is 80 days, travel after 40 and return with ?

Why not get a two entry tourist visa if you expect a 30 day stamp will not be long enough? Situations like this is what they are designed for.

So I would suggest you apply for a two entry tourist visa in Sweden.

Depends how long you intend to stay in Malaysia for..............

Ok lets assume 80 days in total travel..............40 days in Thailand using the 40 of the 60 days allowed on your tourist visa then go to Malaysia for 10 days when you return to Thailand you will recieve a 30 day stay stamp free gratis this will cover you until the end of your 80 day stay.

Scenario number 2 would be 40 days stay using the tourist visa then a 5 day visit lets say to Malaysia you then re-enter Thailand and recieve the 30 day entry stamp free gratis again , this puts you at the 75 day stage you could then go to local immigration in Thailand and apply for a 10 day extension to the 30 day stamp to cover the remainder of your stay....cost for 10 day extension is 1900 baht.

Alternatively if scenario number 2 applies you could simply apply for a double entry tourist visa before leaving Sweden.............this way you have no worries.........simply come for 40 days go to Malaysia and re-enter Thailand using the second entry on your tourist visa.

Edit.........cant believe it took me 7 mins to write that reply Lop.. :o
