Anti-government leaflets scattered in Thailand's far South.

YALA, May 2 – Leaflets allegedly produced by the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) militant group were distributed across this southern border province today.

Police said the leaflets were left on a road in the provincial town and several other locations.

The BRN, which claimed to have produced the leaflets, said the group would take revenge for four Muslim members of the movement who were recently killed by the Thai authorities.

The leaftets were signed by the so-called “Warriors of Fatoni” – an insurgent group opposed to the ongoing peace process between the Thai government and the BRN.

Police have reinforced security in the province and checked suspicious vehicles in crowded areas to prevent violent attacks.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra met with high-ranking security officials in Bangkok today.

National Security Council secretary general Paradorn Pattanatabut presented a briefing on the peace talks with the BRN and several other militant groups in Kuala Lumpur last week.

In the southern border province of Pattani, six persons, including a three-year-old boy, were killed and a another man seriously wounded in a hail of gunfire from four assailants near a grocery store last night. (MCOT online news)
