rubl
I'm disappointed. For a moment I thought the married daughter of Thaksin was expecting. This big sister Yaowapa is not a new Shinawatra, she's an old hand at politics, Thai Rak Thaksin and other shenanigans.

Popular Post animatic
I'm disappointed. For a moment I thought the married daughter of Thaksin was expecting. This big sister Yaowapa is not a new Shinawatra, she's an old hand at politics, Thai Rak Thaksin and other shenanigans. Indeed, not a new set of jowls at the trough, she was snout deep in the game in the TRT days, and has now been reelected at the first available seat, after her 5 year ban expired. She was essentially a Thaksin enforcer behind the scenes the last 5.5 years. Her husband is Somchai, the Ex PPP Thaksin puppet PM, now in his own ban for 5 years, and her daughter, "Princess Pastry Cart", is in her own 5 year band. Literally her whole nuclear family was banned, for cause, at the same time at one point. No nothing new here except a return to face time in public. chainarong
What's this new crap, she's old hat, the only thing new is her shoes or maybe that bag, the rottweiler returns from five years in disgrace to a hero's welcome , could only happen in Thailand.

Popular Post Locationthailand
what with the use of coined phrases like 'Thaksinomics' and 'Shinclan' etc., and with the continued nepotism of the name to ensure the political trough is able to be milked, is it any wonder the rest of us see what the Thai's cannot? Dictatorship looming - warning Will Robinson - warning...
NongKhaiKid
With the calculating way that Thaksin operates I wonder is this has all planned in advance so Yingluck keeps the seat warm and simply repeats what she's told until he returns and if that's not possible elder sister takes over until he gets back. Elder sister is a better proposition fort PM as she's experienced in the trench warfare, dirty tricks and downright nastiness of Thai politics and she's strong enough to control the likes of Chalerm and the Finance Minister both of whom suffer from foot in mouth disease. I'm sure the majority of the party and reds would welcome Yaowapa to give leadership and strength but some in the cabinet might be happy for Yingluck to stay on as she so lightweight and pliable that they can more or less do what they want until they're told a certain gentleman from Dubai has come up on Skype.

dcutman
Here Comes a New Shinawatra! I am going to blame the RTA for this. After 17 tries(coups), even African nations can get it right. They dont even let a memory (of former ruling party) left behind. I would hope they(RTA) have learned and do better on the next one. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/638313-high-risk-of-more-coups-in-thailand-study-says/

This big sister Yaowapa is not a new Shinawatra, she's an old hand at politics, Thai Rak Thaksin and other shenanigans. If his daughter got pregnant, it would be "Here Comes A New Kunakornwong!" (her married name). The only way to get a new Shinawatra would be for son Oak to father a child and that's as likely to occur as Daffyd Thomas fathering a child. DeepInTheForest
To the OP-- Thanks for this: "[Jae is a Chinese word meaning elder sister and D. stands for Dang, Yaowapa’s nickname]". Sometimes clues are imperative for those of us not intimate with Thai slang and common usage. More like this would be appreciated by this reader!!

So yes, gunpoint democracy is alive and well in Thailand. Edited May 11, 2013 by AleG
