Travel Tips

Featured Replies

I have read several past posts about travel suggestions getting from Suvarnaphumi into central BKK and this is my experience as of May 12, 2013.

There no longer is the Airport Express bus 4 which runs from the airport to Hul Lumpaung train station. When I disembarked from the plane and cleared Immigration/Customs I asked two different information desks about catching the bus and they both said the bus was discontinued at least two years ago. I speak only a little Thai and I could be mistaken but I asked both in Thai and English and the response was the same. I went down to the first level to see if there was transportation and the only thing I found was the train into the city.

I also wanted to take a minivan from Hua Lumpong to Cha Am and had read posts indicating that one could get a mini van near the Century Cinema at Siam Center. I walked this area today and asked several people but was unsuccessful finding any vans running from there to Cha Am. I was told tha t I would have to go to Mo Chit or to Victory Monument to catch a minivan. Tomorrow I will take the BTS to Victory Monument and try to find a van to Cha Am.

This was only my experience and I may have certainly been doing something wrong but I post this so that others may know my experience and if I am wrong I hope other more experienced members of the forum can provide information as to the mistakes I made today in trying to find transport to Cha Am.

Thanks

Minivans to Cha am and Hua Hin leave from a driveway near Victory Monument BTS. East side of PhayaThai Road, just south of the BTS station near the Century the Movie Plaza Office centre.

Map here (Green arrow is roughly where the minivans leave from)

You can see the driveway with the minivans in street view here
