I bought my Mitsi Triton new 5 years ago. The car is great but the dealers are nothing better than back street chop shops.

I removed the body liner last week and found there isn't any foam tape between the liner and the paint work. So now have no paint left on the body where the plastic liner has been in contact with it.

A couple of days ago, I was admiring a new Triton with a nice chrome roll bar on which was parked outside my local tescos. Where they had bolted the roll bar onto the body, they had bent the top lip of the body up and caused a ripple in the body pannel down the side of the car. It was so easy to see that I wondered if the owner was perhaps blind.

Why did you take the bin liner out anyway? I reckon once those are installed, they are for keeps, no? Sticking foam and other water traps between the liner and the bed is inviting rust...or at least bad smells!

Chances are the after market roll bar wasn't fitted by the dealership. There's loads of shops that install these and the premise that it is a roll bar is a bit comical; they are purely for show and would crumple faster than the truck body if it was rolled. I would suspect that the owner maybe was using the 'roll bar' for some sort of load carrying, maybe tied a fridge to it and that possibly caused the deformation of the body panel.

Firstly, I have removed the body liner to replace it with a new one as it has holes cut in it from when I had the Top Up fitted to the car. Secondly Foam tape should be used between any paint work and anything in contact with it. What do you think you might find between a plastic wheel arch trim and the paint work ?. Thats right ! FOAM TAPE !.. 3M Foam tape dosnt cause water traps and it should be used.

I also know that roll bars and other such accessories are only Christmas tree decorations, but my point in this topic is to say Be aware of the low standards in the main dealers and accessory shops. After I had removed the motor arm covers from my Top Up, I could see lots of holes Hacked out of the body liner. No template used, Only an angle grinder !.

I forgot to mention, I am talking about ,where the top of the body liner comes over the top edge of the body on both sides.
