Phuket Mob Violently Bounces Aussies From Kangaroo Bar

One more reasons to stay away from Patong, way to many Aussies, they should all go back to Bali and stay there coffee1.gif

Maybe the Thai's (ie the locals here), say the same about you?? whistling.gif

I don't know about Patong but for sure the locals in Pattaya seem to be more than thankful for my repeat business. Unlike the Aussies I behave like an educated and respectful person and thus never had an arguments with the local Thais wai.gif

Never had an argument with a local Thai!! Are your farts rose scented too? and do angels weep every time you speak?

They come act like fools, they think that it's ok to disrespect people and act like they are better than the local people. This happens in this country too often with both Brits and Aussies. They should take away there visa exempt status to visit the country. Make them get tourist visas to come here.

90% of every common Asian who ever worked or visited Australia, will most probably let you now that they were discriminated whilst being there, the land down under, where they once sent all those criminals...........perhaps........... it's in there genes ?

I have to say I am quite surprised at the amount of Aussie bashing being keyboarded. OK there are a few gobby sorts from down under, but show me a place 100% full of perfect citizens?

It's an ill wind that blows no good, and Phuket and Pattaya may be taking some of the idiots who previously went to Bali? That can only be a good thing.

For Bali F4U...for Bali. Mind you...I reckon it's the alcohol and the amount of it

consumed that's the cause here and not the nationality. Just as easily it could

have been Americans, Brits, Canuks, Germans, Danes, Russians etc...etc..

alcohol turns it's victims into <deleted>...always has...always will...if enough

is consumed in a short period of time...sip satang from me.

Interesting story. Made so by the fact that the "mob" was not clearly defined.... Would be curious to know if it was other farang patrons at the bar, or local Thai guys. Looks like they would have pissed off both groups, with the ashtray attack on the American and slapping the bar girl. Impressive to break the guy's leg in a street fight, must have used some furniture on him. And after seeing the photos, it seems to once again solidify the link between excessive tattoos and mindless drunken violence. Regarding their injuries, som nam na !!!!!!!!!

A relationship between tattoos and violence, just because you sometimes see a photo of tattooed guys on Thai Visa, how ignorant.

You don't even know the whole story or who these people are.

Does that also mean that because there seem to be many ignorant remarks (like yours) on Thai Visa that there is a link between Thai Visa members and ignorance ?

I'd agree partly that drawing a link between tattoos and violence is a touch unreliable, but in favor of the assertion, I'd ask how many judges, specialist surgeons, and professionals generally, have tattoos over large parts of their limbs and bodies? Not many. I mix in those circles, and I don't know of one who has A tattoo, much less large areas of tattoos. I think it's generally regarded that extensive tattooing is the domain of the bottom end of the socio/economic/intellectual spectrum, a group more prone to violence than the other end of those spectrums?? I'm not suggesting all those with a tattoo are violent or at the bottom end, but largely that's the pattern.

I watched the latter half of the incident, these guys are lucky to be alive. The guy with the eye injury was pinned down with arms behind his back while about 6 of the street touts kicked and stamped his face and head. The guy with the broken leg ran down towards the beach end of the road, with about 15 locals chasing him. I am sure he got similar treatment. The cops couldn't even stop the mob, they just kept kicking and kicking. It was quite sick to watch, and I had to go home after it .... I did not see the incidents leading up to the beating, just the beating itself.

Great, so finally we have the truth.

These guys were beaten to a pulp by local Thais (who hate Farang) out for some blood. The story was just a cover up for nasty local Thais out for a "fight". These 2 drunken Aussies provided them with an excuse to entertain themselves. The same happens in Pattaya. A couple of drunken guys become abusive and all the Thai bouncers go out and start bashing them.

I'll bet these Aussie guys did not pick up an ashtray or furniture to bash people.

The really disturbing thing is that its taken 7 pages of vitriol spewed by holier than thou imbeciles to get somewhere near the truth of the incident.

Many of you are correct. There really are some idiots in this country but these two lads aren't included in that demographic...

Cool your jets....At this point we don't really know what they did to start this fight. For sure they were not sitting quietly discussing a footie game. Sounds like they received a fair amount of punishment, who knows if it was in keeping with whatever they did wrong. Mobs are not known for correctly dispensing the proper level of justice. This story would have had HUNDREDS of witnesses to the fight, I am amazed the Thai media cannot come up with a clear story of what happened, and each person here can decide the position to take on this. Brogans out causing trouble and deserving what happened to them , or good lads with a bit of drink in them who ran afoul of farang hating bouncers....

We are cool. We're not the ones immediately condemning a couple of young Aussie guys out for a good time. It's a coverup for a Thai mob out for some fun. Obviously they have to paint a rosy picture by blaming the Aussie tourists for everything.

Aussie tourists are a huge market in Phuket. They can't afford the truth to come out and frighten off Aussie tourists.

930,599 australians visited Thailand in 2012. Most of them probably to Phuket.

Do even 450000 of them get into trouble each year as some of these posts suggest.

The tattoo nazis surface yet again.

Being an tattoo nazi sounds like too much work. Mild amusement would be a more accurate assessment of my attitude towards anyone covered in tattoos.

Have some yourself by any chance?? Have not conducted a poll, but it sure seems that a lot of the farang thugs committing crimes here in Thailand have a lot of tattoos. Must be a coincidence... Carry on.

No, I don't have any tattoos, but they bother me at all and I don't judge people by them.

2 Drunk Australian Tourists Involved In A Brawl In Phuket

2 tourists from Australia came to Phuket for holiday, when they went out at night, they became drunk and unaware of their actions. When the drunk Australian tourists tried to go into a well-known pub in Phuket, they weren’t permitted to go in due to their drunk state.

They were angry that the doorkeeper or bouncer didn’t let them in, they then assaulted an American tourist in front of the pub to express their angriness. It was also reported that they assaulted the bar girls and many more tourists as well. Tourists and nearby people helped to catch the Australians, they were then sent to a nearby hospital as they were injured. The incident happened at Pathong sub-district, Phuket Province.

PHUKET – 24,2013 [PDN]; Phuket police were informed that two tourists assaulted other tourists at Soi Bangla. It was also reported that the tourists had already been caught by other tourists and residents as they fear that others would be further injured by the mad tourist. Police were asked to immediately come to the scene to investigate and arrest the two tourists.

As soon as the incident was reported, a team of police officers was sent out together with Police Lt. General Nikorn Choothong and Police Capt. Kornkrit Kunkrua of Kathu Police station. When police arrived at the scene, they found that over 500 tourists and locals were surrounding the incident. In the middle of the street, police found two tourists who were later identified as Australian tourists. From their Passports, they were identified as 26 year-old Anthony Sounder and 30 year-old Brad Trapp. Both were in a severely injured state and they were also bleeding heavily from their injuries. Police also found an injured American, who was identified as 28 year-old John Hangsa. Witnesses informed the police that the fellow American was assaulted by the two Australians. All three injured tourists were sent to Pathong Hospital

After questioning the two Australian tourists, it was known that they just set foot to Thailand just a day before the incident happened and that it was their first to Thailand. It was also known that they stayed in an apartment at Soi Na-nai in Pathong sub-district. They both went out at night to explore the night-life of Phuket. After having consumed a big amount of alcohol, they were in a drunk state, leading to the reported incident. Anthony, one of the Australian suspect told the police that they wanted to go in to the Hollywood Discotheque, but once they tried to go in, they were rejected by the doorkeeper as he saw them in a heavily drunk state. They were not happy that they were kicked out, so they assaulted and attacked nearby tourists and bar girls with dangerous objects such as chairs or ice blocks.

When other tourists and locals saw their unacceptable behaviour they went in to catch and stop the mad Australians, fearing that anymore people would be assaulted by them. As soon as they were caught, a local called up the police to arrest them, they were later sent to the hospital as they had been injured as well. Police are now investigating the incident and will report further movements on the case.

I reckon this whole report is fabricated nonsense and a lousy attempt to cover up heavy handed treatment by bouncers.

"When other tourists and locals saw their unacceptable behaviour they went in to catch and stop the mad Australians, fearing that anymore people would be assaulted by them."

Give us a break. We're expected to believe that members of the public went in to stop them?

I don't know if they 'went to help' as such, but may have tried to stop them (ie Friends of the American that got ashtrayed/injured). I'd say there is something missing here, which minimises the fact that they were beaten senseless by a mob (and who was actually involved in this), I don't doubt that they actually started it though. They fit the exact MO of the type who wouldn't like to be denied/pushed around when they are drunk (seen plenty of them in Melbourne), and their first time here, I'm sure they weren't going to let someone other Thai/American etc, do it either, like most of us on here know that any Thai will jump in if their 'own' is inovolved in a fight (especially around these bar areas).

They probably did deserve it, but it was way too excessive, however, hopefully they learnt their lesson.

I am proud to be an Australian just like everyone else is proud of their country , just because a few idiots do wrong ,it does not count for the hundreds of others that come here to have a relaxing holiday and see this beautiful country.

There are sh*tbags in every country , but that does not the country bad or be ashamed of it

So, Anthony, facing criminal prosecution, told the police they attacked innocent people because a disco refused them entry.

We're lead to believe.

Now either Anthony is really really really stupid, or someone is bull****ing us.

Some of the most ridiculous, boorish and aggressive behavior I've ever seen in Thailand has all been Australians. I don't know what's going on "down under" but it seems to be a nation pre-disposed to produce scumbags.

Aussies, Brits and Russians. Americans, and other Western Europeans are generally tame by comparison.

IMO this is a one sided article and I can't see how you can know with much certainty they deserved the beating.

Drunk holiday makers on Bangla Rd - which aren't?

Used ashtray as weapon - Why? What was the lead up? I don't know. Do you know?

Bar girl slapped. Why? Just slapped a random girl? Of course not. What did she do and why isn't that reported?

Did the journalist ask for their side?

If I was placing bets I'd side against them but I'm far from knowing.

Based on what is known from the report, it seems that you are far too forgiving of these animals.

Is there ever any justification for a tourist to slap a bar girl? They clearly got what they deserved.

We should all be pleased with the outcome, I'd say.

I actually like Aussies in an English / Aussie love-hate sort of way and as long as we retain the Ashes who cares.

PS

They call us POMs, when in fact it was their descendants who were Prisoners Of His Majesty's Government (POMS) . That is, they're all criminals anyway biggrin.png

The other legend is the they were Prisoner Of Mother England...Poms as well. Don't think we will ever know for sure. Either way they turned out to be better than where they came from!!! think cricket (overall), swimming, rugby (on average) and pretty well anything else. our former prime minister still holds the record for the fastest yard glass (or pint, whatever) sunk at oxford, and I believe one of our cricketers also hold the record for the most cans of beers drunk (45 or 46 ) on a Sydney to London flight. I thank you for bringing us in to being the great nation we are. Buuurpthumbsup.gif

"I believe one of our cricketers also hold the record for the most cans of beers drunk (45 or 46 ) on a Sydney to London flight"

Sure it wasn't Sydney to Phuket - and recently?

I would like to know where you did your research into the tie between tatoos and mindless drunken violence, I have a number of tatoos myself, which may I add some of which I do regret getting, most of them I had done whilst serving in Her Majesty's armed forces, but at no time in my life have I ever been prone to mindless drunken violence of any sort, so to generalise in this way seems a little narrow minded and ignorant. Its like saying everytime you see a farang with a thai girl she must be a hooker!!!!!!!

I suppose that's one huge difference between Thailand and Australia. You can't "deserve" a bashing in Australia. Assault is assault no matter who's doing the assaulting. There are courts to decide punishment and it doesn't involve breaking legs or maiming faces.

There's no way those two slightly built, drunken young Aussies were a real threat to anyone.

This is an uncivilized Thai gang/mob assault on a couple of drunk Aussie tourists. The whole story is nonsense aimed at covering this up. The whole story is dedicated to putting 100% of the blame on the Aussie tourists and thereby saving their collective face.

The rest of the thread has been an excuse for a multitude of pin-heads to let fly with their anti-Aussie and anti-tattoo sentiments. That's really pathetic based on this ridiculous, poorly written report.
