i'm thinking about trying to make a bonsai tree for fun so i don't want to simply go out and buy one

i was looking for what tropical tree make good bonsai and it seems that tamarind is a good candidate

anyway, is anyone else playing with bonsai, any advice?

This plant is one of popular bonsai trees.

มะสัง (Ma Sang), Scientific name: Feroniella lucida (Scheff.)

The young plant can be found at ornament plant shop. About 15 B. a plant.

nice, thanks, i'll look out for that

out on my morning walk today i saw a number of trees growing out if a steep hillside that looked promising. because they are growing on a near vertical surface, they are odd shapes and have been trimmed back many times making them short and stubby. i'm going to cut a couple out and try those too

the other very common tree around here is the Banyan Tree,

ต้นไทร dtohn sai banyan tree, Ficus bengalensis

it's almost made for the job, thick nobbly trunk, aerial roots, smallish leaves and easily available and cheap
