If taking the BKK-Penang flight at 7.25am, will I have enough time to get to the Thai consulate the same day in time to put in my visa application...?

Anybody have experience of this?

Also how much is a single entry Non-Imm 'O' visa?

I believe the Consulate stops accepting applications at noon. Be sure to have Malaysian money with you for payment. Not sure what the price is.

i think they do stop early afternoon and make sure its not thai/malay holiday.

ive not come in from the airport and know its way out of town so youll have to calculate for this as well.

id just go thru parvez on chulia - its so cheap and efficient its not worth the trip out. im loathe to recommend visa services and parvez is only ive used in my life - but its the way 2 go.

spend a day - see whats left of chinatown, go to the temple ... youre in another country, gotta be worth 1 day!

Yeah you/ll be ok they do stop taking applications at 12 or 12.30pm .............you may even have time to get your application to Parvez to hand in for you (but i would check with them first) thats if you want to use an agent of course.

Anyway your passport will be ready the following pm for pick up.

Never had a Non Imm from there so cant help on fee.

yes, you will have enough time. i did it last week and my flight (the same one above) had 30 minutes delays and i still had time to submit the application and pick it up the next day. i believe its ringgit 200 per entry.

I was there early this month to apply for O visa but was rejected and given a 60-days tourist visa instead. What paperwork does one need in order to the this O visa ???? My visa will run out in May, my working permit will not be approved by then. So i need to get out again. Does anyone have any suggestion where I should go to get the next visa?? What should I be applying for?? And what paperwork do I need? Should I get an extension here?? And how many days will they give me??

Please advice!!!!

Interesting rb3 was asking about getting a multi entry tourist visa in Penang a month ago. Then today claims he was refused a B visa for not having a W3 and in this thread says he was refused an O visa. In yet another thread he asks what a "troll" in. :o

Hi Guys,

Just got back from a nice couple days in Penang. Made the consulate very easily from the airport with time to spare. Landed around 10.30am local time, just a 40 minute drive into Georgetown.

For the Non Imm 'O' visa (marriage) the paperwork needed is easy:

1. Marriage certificate (original and 1 copy)

2. Copy of my wife's house papers

3. Copy of my wife's ID Card

4. Passport (obviously) plus 1 copy

5. 2 passport size photos

Price for single entry is 200 RM (about 2,000 Th.:o. A multi-entry is 500 RM (about 5,000 Th.:D. I only needed a single as I have my own company and work permit and can extend for each subsequent year. I changed from a Non Imm 'B' as I will pay less tax!!

But for applying for a Non Imm 'O' is sooo easy it's ridiculous! Just take the above papers and there you go. Use an agent is even better as there will be no questions thrown at you.

rb3 - If you're married, just do the above and you'll sail through. Don't need your WP or show any money. Despite what some people say, you CAN get a WP with a 'O' visa, my partner has done it.

Lopburi,

Thanks for being so interested in my posts and keeping track of it.

So here is to clarify on what happen to me, in case u are interested...

I applied for a B visa, and also an O. First, rejected due to not having the WP3, so I asked for O visa instead. which the lawyer actually told me is for Other - can be used for other than non marriage/non retirement, similar to business visa expats will get in Indonesia. (Is this true btw?? or only for retirement/marriage) However, The Penang consulate rejected it also and told me they only give 60 days tourist visa. So that's what I get. So there.. is the complete story.. in case u are wondering...

For definition of troll, in case you havent notice, i am a newbie - hence not knowing what it means in turns make me questions the definition of it. Since when asking is a crime?

I dont know what you are trying to achieve sending the post above, but if you have additional questions re my posts feel free to PM me. I will gladly supply more information if needed.

You said, and I quote

I was there early this month to apply for O visa

That does not seem to be true if you were really there to apply for a B visa. If you had said you applied for an O visa I would not have questioned it but you made a post about being refused an O visa and did not bother to say way. That leaves a lot of people wondering if they are also going to be refused. So your rather varied postings were highlighted.

Yes, the O (other) is a catch all type of visa class but there are specific requirements for the various things that it can be used for. And Penang is usually the best place in the area to obtain them.
