Ok there, i know i shouldnt have overstayed my visa especially for this long. Now i know i need to fix the problem.

I have a couple questions if anyone has any experience with this.

Okay so i had a 60 day tourist visa and it expired about 11 days ago so i have overstayed for 11 days without going to immigration and getting my 30 day extension.

My question is that If i go to Immigration and pay my overstay of days 6,500 baht plus the 1,900 baht extension fee for 30 days will they extend my visa for the 30 day extension and take away the days i overstayed so it makes it like a 19 day extension.

Thank you, i just kinda want to know what i should expect, im worried that i will go there and they say i cannot extend my visa because i overstayed and than they lock me up and want me to get a plane ticket back to my home country.

Thank you.

I don't think you'll be getting an extension whilst on overstay, best to leave Thailand pay your fine and re enter either on an exemption or obtain another visa depending on the duration you want.

I would be ashamed to even ask. I would buy a plane ticket, and try to pay on the way out, and start over again.

You do realize you can apply for the extension several days in advance and not lose anything?

I hope this is a troll post otherwise I think you really need to sort out your priorities :whistling:

Same as above, I wouldn't dare to ask for an extension when I'm nearly on a two week overstay

Why would i be a troll and post this for no reason. I know i need to get my priorities straight.

I dont really have the money to fly out and back for only 30 days because im moving back home in 2 weeks.

Would walking across the border at Mai Sai work or do they have a rule that if you have overstayed you cannot walk out and walk back in. Or can only one fly out?

People do get extensions of stay even with overtstays..

Simple excuse, "I thought it was 90 days!!"

Some experts will come along with better advice but I wouldn't worry you should get your stamp, but you will have to pay overstay.

Tell us where you are and what immgration office you will use.

People who present at immigration don't get locked up as a rule.

Generally, it has been advised not to go to a land border and try to settle the overstay upon exit, they(moderators) do advise departing by air. If you want to try visiting immigration, it may work, but I would try to avoid the police until you have it sorted.

People with overstay do sometimes indeed simply pay the overstay and then get the extension. The question is how long an overstay will they find aceptable.

Simply go to immigration and try your luck, but be prepared to leave the country the same day if they deny you.

I do not know what will happen at immigration

but I know you can pay the overstay at the land crossing border

then turn around and get a 15 day stamp

go to land border (mae sai) -> report and pay overstay -> cross into tachileik -> get back in and get 15 days.

no prob as long as u act friendly and explain u thought it was 3 months and not 2 months.

optional:

1. bring your ticket back home (u're leaving in 2 weeks u say) and show them.

2. since u don't have to pay 1900 for extension (but u will have to pay 10$ in myanmar) buy a big bag of 3-in-one for immigration showing u're a generous guy and not kee-nee-ow.

3. wear a shirt and not a singlet

You could or could not get another extending 30 days, it depends on the officer. You have to pay the fine before you leave the country, that is for sure. The longer days you don't do this the more fine you have to pay when you leave. The best way for this is, must tell a lie a bit, just say that you were not well, and you could not come to apply for the exension. Try that, but every day you stay, it costs you 500 baht per day.

You're kinda dreaming if you think that will work. You're only choice is to go to the airport or border, pay your overstay fine, leave the country and then return to Thailand when you have another visa .... or return immediately and receive a 30-day-stay stamp in your passport ... that is, if your nationality qualifies for such.

You don't have to give them any excuse. Just pay your fine, get your passport stamped, and leave the country.

Borders are fine and it is the easiest way however if you get stopped by police before the border you can have real problems...

I thought id give a Update incase anyone in the future has this problem.

With a 17 day overstay i was completely fine to leave the border at Mai Sai and walk back and get 15 days.

There was a lot of police check points on the way to the border, if your overstay id recommend not driving up yourself but going with a company, common sense dont tell the company you got a overstay, could get set up or something you never know.

They where nice at the border just said if overstay pay and go.
