Vice Govt Spokesman Disagrees With Redshirts' Actions At Lamphun

BANGKOK: -- The vice spokesman of the government, Mr. Pakdiharn Himatongkum, said the Redshirts had gone too far when their supporters staged a protest near the venue of Democrat Party′s rally in Lamphun province on Saturday (8 June).

Democrat Party supporters at the rally complained of fireworks and other projectiles fired by slingshots from direction of the rowdy Redshirts crowds, and Mr. Abhisit Vejjajeeva, the chairman of the Democrats, publicly criticized the Redshirts about this.

Nonetheless, Mr. Pakdiharn said that Mr. Abhisit should also ask himself why there were people acting violently against him "in a manner as one who lost his patience".

The vice spokesman offered an answer himself, saying that the Redshirts in Lamphun province are tired Mr Abhisit′s "lies" and "distorted facts" he had spoken at the rally.

Meanwhile, Mr. Sombat Boonngam-anong, leader of Red Sunday group which is a relatively progressive wing of the Redshirts mass, voiced his dissatisfaction with the Lamphun Redshirts on his Facebook, saying that the Redshirts had no legitimacy to disrupt rival groups′ rallies.

Lamphun red shirts are quite clear in their message that only PTPs lies and distorted facts are truthful and acceptable.

I wonder though with some leaders voicing concern about some of their followers attitudes and tactics are they beginning to worry that the monster they helped create is getting out of control and at any time could turn on them ?

So, it's alright for Reds to perform threatening and violent actions because they don't like what Abhisit SAYS, but it's not ok for anti-government protestors to peacefully protest about what the Government DOES!

The 'rebuke' is qualified by almost saying the Democrats bring it on themselves while they take advantage of their (current) freedom of speech.

Such technology is very portable these days and inexpensive, and if strategically placed could provide an excellent deterrent at similar gatherings in the future. It shows what most people here know that in general red shirts and PTP supporters are thugs and lower educated people. It never fails to amaze me that there are still foreigners supporting them. Then again they might be part of that unit that posts good things about the king. Maybe there is a same unit financed by Taksin to put positive news on the Internet about him and then there might be some misguided people even among the foreigners really believing them.

Not that I think that all democrats are clean, they certainly are not but i believe they are bit less corrupt then the ruling party. Corruption has only increased. Guess what party was mostly in power. It would be nice if there ever came a new party that really stood against corruption. But i guess without money or return on investment (stealing once your in power) there are not enough people able (you need the money in the first hand) or willing to do it.

Hard for an outsider to believe that the red shirts could cause all the trouble they did in 2010 so they could have the freedom to disrupt rallies that did not support them. In this case they did it ibn a way that nor only made a lot of noise to disturb the speaker but they made ot dangerous for them by firing fire works and other projectiles at them/

Just a scaled down 2010 Bangkok. The red shirts still carry on like a bunch of uneducated drunken goons for hire.

So Abhisit must question himself as to why he can not attend a Dem political gathering without fireworks and sling shots being fired (a direct hit to the head with a steel nut potentially fatal!) by the reds, yet the Government are considering stopping anti government protestors who do not protest violently but simply protest silently wearing....a mask.
