Would like to offer free conversation classes... best way to advertise in Bangkok?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I'm currently in Thailand doing some research into mobile phones and communication as part of my masters degree in Anthropology. I have a partnership with Chulalongkorn University. While I'm here I need to speak with as many Thai people as possible about their phones, what they are doing with them etc etc.

I thought a nice idea (as I'm a CELTA qualified teacher) would be to offer a free conversation class in exchange for a discussion on people and their phones. I'm thinking 40min conversation and 20mins or so doing my research.

I've stuck and ad. on the Bangkok craigslist but does anyone have any decent ideas as to how I meat reach a bigger audience?

Thanks!

Put an 'ad up on the notice board (or intranet if they have it) at Chula?

Good idea, will get on that tomorrow! Thanks Gareth.

Also wondering about online places where Thai's post classifieds etc..?

Giving conversation classes, even if free, requires a work permit.

If you don't have one that covers this work, probably best not to advertise working illegally.

AyG is correct. If you get caught you will/could face charges and may have your current WP revoked (that is assuming you have one) for your current job.
