Yes, in the past it was unclear what Thaksin's conditions were.

Today, after TRT saw the results coming from the constituency poll, they said that it all depended on whether TRT got over 50% in the party list ballot.

Typical. It's hard to keep track of those goalposts when they're moving all the time!

And it's difficult playing the game when the other team doesn't even show up.

Of course that was a strategic move by the other political parties - to muddle things up and then stand back and blame the TRT for all the technical difficulties of the election, of which there are many. I still can not respect the other parties, who continue to be part of the problem, not the solution.

30 minutes Till Thaksin speaks ... and George has participated in one of Thailand's favorite pasttimes on this sub-forum :o

<hope you are right George!>

Then we can have done with the Anti-PAD and Anti-Thaksin fanatics at one time!

And get on to the ever more frightening ... how does Thailand get a sitting Parlaiment constitutionally!

They said that the party list result would be slow because there's a lot of spoiled ballots, which take a long time to sort out. I'm surprised that there are no preliminary results though.

".......because there's a lot of spoiled ballots......."

Deliberate intent or sheer incompetence? :o

PAD would not contest the results if they win (doubtful).

As much as it could be, this election was pretty fair, people had the option of voting Tuksin out, and it looks like they have not. But instead chose to boycott an election they knew they were gona lose anyway.

PAD touts democracy, yet they still plan more protests of they dont get their way in the election. Thats pretty pathetic really, and just goes to show they dont give a stuff about what the people actually want.

Shame on PAD, they had their chance to covert people to their cause, and it now looks like they failed, time to just deal with it, and quit the moaning and holding up traffic in the center of the city.

Granted, Tuksin isn't a very good guy, but your kidding yourselves if you actually believe that any of this other pond scum will make Thailand better off.

oh ... let's see .... this election was legal ... but far from fair .....

Thaksin could have given enough notice before the elections to let the candidates choose sides ... but he didn't .....

Thaksin could have waited til after songkran when many many people would take the info they gained in the cities home ... and thus influence the rural population ..... but he didn't ...

The list goes on ....

"pond scum"......ummm :D ......strong words!

The people want Thaksin out.....nothing more.....nothing less. The PAD will continue their protests until Thaksin steps down. This is what they've said all along.

And the PAD haven't failed, as seen in the huge no vote which was a protest agianst Thaksin's continued premiership.

And you say:"....and just goes to show they dont give a stuff about what the people actually want."

Pretty rich!

The people have shown what they want - Thaksin's immediate removal.

The PAD simply want a return to a fair and proper parliamentary process - which is something Thaksin has reapeatedly abused from day one of his tenure in his totally selfish and self-serving desire to enrich himself and his cronies.

Sorry - but your posting smacks of "sour grapes" - had a bad day have we?

Nothing to do with today's election results I presume? :o

That's funny. My partner is watching Thaksin LIVE on Thai TV, and says Thaksin hasn't resigned. You would think, if he's in a live interviewer, a native of Chiang Mai who's listening closely would know that the man has just resigned.

Is there a fat lady? Has she sung yet? Not yet, mai yet.

The Nation:

"A reconciliation committee be set up to unlock political chaos.

Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra proposed that a committee be set up to seek solutions to the political chaos including his premiership.

Speaking in a talk-show political programme of Channel 11, said that the committee should comprise of several groups of people who have political opinions on the current situation.

"Members of the proposed committees would be picked up from several sectors of the society, including judges and academicians," he said.

He is ready to step down if the committee said so.

The committee's tasks will include how to build up political reconciliation. "I wish to ask everyone to put aside personal matters and thought only about the sake of the country," he said.

Thaksin said he was nearly shocked when he heard Democrat Party's call for royally appointed prime minister.

"I did not think that Democrat Party will propose so," he said. "

Dr. Thaksin will not resign according to Channel 11 direct interview.

Listening to Thaksin now......earlier justified why Thai Rak Thai should form the next government -

No votes + votes for opposition parties = 10 million

Votes for Thai Rak Thai = 16 million

Simple.

"I'm the winner.

So shut-up and do what I tell you. I'm the newly elected premier."

bulmercke: "Pathetic really."

Heaps of trouble for Thailand in the ensuing weeks and months.
