Having furniture made

Featured Replies

I was thinking that I might like to have an upholstered sofa made.

It would have a double arched back an be for 2 people. It is not Thai style, but modern western.

A shapy, curvy sofa.

Where would you go to have that made? I might be able to provide a blueprint for them - could be that they would need one? smile.png

Actually, I really like this curvy couch too!:

Feel free to post pictures of really cool Thai furniture smile.png

I think that material is used in Thai furniture, certainly seen it. The shape though is another thing.

Have you tried Ikea for western furniture certainly the biggest choice and best price quality. Apart from that try index - for western furniture. Try the furniture stores usually seem to be on one floor of Bangkok malls. MBK, Central Bang Na, Paragon etc.

Getting a one off made maybe more expensive and disappointing.

Edit : there are plenty of upholsterers doing sofas down the back sois. It's a gamble on the quality though and their construction standards might not match yours.

Edit2: sorry just seen this is in CHiang Mahi forum.

In another post you said you were only staying in Thailand for a year,

should you not wait until you arrive here and find a house first ,who

knows the furniture might be to your liking, and it would save you

having some made,I call that putting the cart before the horse.

Its quite easy getting all kinds of things made here and it will not

take long to do.

Just wondering have you ever been to Chiang Mai before ?

I don't want to make a sofa because I need furniture, i want to make it because it's a project that I want to do.
