races meetings

Featured Replies

hi, does any1 have information on the race meeting in bangkok, which is the best track? royal bangkok sports club or royal turf club, also do they have vip areas and are these expensive for entry? and what is the dress code etc? any info in general would be a help

thanks

I would say the RBSC Track is the best.

Races are held at RBSC and RTF on alternate Sundays except when the Sunday is Wan Phra in which case the event is held on the preceding Saturday - the next races at RBSC will be held on Saturday, 6 June (June 7 is Wan Phra). First race starts about 12.00 and the last around 4.30 depending on the Card.

There are no VIP areas in the Public Stands but if you know a Member he can introduce you as a Guest and you can get into the Members Only areas where the crowd is a little more "respectable" but even in that area you would not mistake it for Ascot; most "Members" who attend the races are not full RBSC members but what is called "Racing Members" who can only attend on Racedays and tend to be up-country horse Owners etc., lots of diamond studded Rolexes, heavy gold necklaces and rings - and that's just the men! There are always a number of armed Police / Soldiers around to keep order just in case.

All betting is on the Tote system, although if you speak Thai you will find there are a number of illegal Bookmakers who will accept more adventurous gambles.

"Form Books" are available in Thai and English however they are not particularly reliable since the finishing order has often been pre-agreed amongst the participant Owners or others in the know.

No real "Dress Code" but Flip-flops are not allowed.
