Nokia Drive Maps, anyone used in Thailand ?

Featured Replies

As they come free with the Nokia Lumia I was wondering if anyone had used them in LOS ? I've used them in Europe and they worked fine.

Used them.....at least Ovi Maps.

Does work like any other navigation system.

On my N86 there was only a small delay which may cause wrong turns especially in cities like Bangkok.

At some point my N86 crashed when I was in the centre of Bangkok leaving me totally blind.

This is a new series of maps that run on the Lumia. Just covered 2500K in LOS with it and really worked well. Turn by turn navigation with great search features that lists loads of hotels, attractions etc with point to point navigation. Maps are free and works offline. Just as good as dedicated sat nav for most purposes and available on a phone that I got at a good price. Happy with it.smile.png

wow, they have great feature

I never care with Nokia's product but it will be my exception

I have used them on my Lumia 920 and they worked just fine, I still prefer to use my SG3 though.

Sure. I understand. A major advantage for me is that I travel to a lot of different countries on business and I have the maps on my phone for free without having to carry a dedicated Sat Nav. It will also give me walking directions or public transport routes if I'm out and about, used that to get bus information in Chinatown in the pouring rain yesterday when I couldn't get a taxi for love or money! Also there is Nokia City lens, just point it around in camera view and it builds up a picture of where you are and lists nearby restaurants, attractions etc, tap on an icon and takes you straight to reviews and info, used it to great effect in Berlin & London, must try it out in Bangkok at the weekend. smile.png

I used Nokia Drive on my Lumia 710 when I was on Thailand a while back. Worked extremely well, and of course no data charges. I'll definitely use it again.

It drains the battery very fast though, about 6 hours and it is flat. But the battery is user replaceable on that phone, so I carry a couple of fully charged spares which is no problem as they were bought for about £5 each from ebay.

That was a reasonable solution, and a good price for your spare batteries.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
