Ask Totster... he's a Kalasin resident 6 months of every year.

:o

But make sure you ask him before 2 oclock, or you might not understand the answer.

You could of course pop into Sulin on the way back.

...may well do that on the way back to BKK.....will give American Bob (I think he is called little Bob in Surin :o ) a call, maybe meet him at your place on the Monday afternoon.

Kalasin is a place I've visited often but have rarely gone drinking. I don't think there is anything like the FC. The only times I have had a moderately good time were in the Rimpao Hotel cafe and disco, but the place seems to have gone downhill a lot from a couple of years ago and the cafe/restaurant now doesn't have singers on most days. This is about the only reasonable hotel in the city and is where most Westerners stay. Kalasin does have a really exceptional restaurant, opposite the private hospital, called 'Suki Yaki', which deserves a visit. If anybody has more up-to-date info about farang-style bars/meeting places I'd be interested to hear.

I have lived in Kalasin for almost 3 years now, and truly love it here.... As far as "Farang Bars", I do not of any, but there are some interesting / fun Thai places, and the Thai's here seem to welcome / enjoy having a Farang stop by....

Yes, the Rimpao Hotel is the best hotel in town, and the Karaoke there can be fun on good nights.. The restrurant across from the private hospital is called "The Suki House" and their Gai Munow (Lemon Chicken) is fantastic.... Also there is a small restrurant on the right side of the road heading out of town towards Roi Et called "The Living Mart Restrurant" that has really good Pork Steaks and many really good pasta dishes... Oh, and we even have a KFC, but I would not recommend KFC anywhere in the world...

There are a couple of Thai Karaoke places in town that can be fun flirting with very friendly girls, but you would have a hard time finding them without Thai help...
