Popular Post HeavyDrinker
I was at one of my locals tonight when the old boy who sells flower garlands nearby and can pick his nose like the best of 'em suddenly jumped up and started shouting at a younger woman of about 50ish who'd just walked by. At first I thought there was naughtiness afoot but the woman looked back at the man for a while....at first in disdain, but then she really looked at him....then shouted 'Daddy, Daddy' and fell to her knees in a faint. Passers by and the staff helped the lass to her feet as I and the bloke what sells crappy clothes helped the old man to his feet and to a semblance of awareness. After a few minutes when both parties were somewhat more 'with it' (as the kids today say) they just fell all over each other in fits of tears. As I had the new Queens of the Stone Age LP on, I wasn't too mithered and figured that this was a run of the mill family reunion so let them carry on. Once all had cleared and the tale came out it transpired that they were both separated in the Khmer Rouge era, had been repatriated here but had both thought (and been told) the other was dead. The old boy had recognised his daughter from a (nasty) burn mark on her arm she'd picked up on her arm as a baby . All the women were blubbing but I never shed a drop.... 35 years apart...but now reunited... Life ain't all bad.

No....HD, I was getting all teary eyed until he said he's never shed a drop. I bet he would howl like a baby if you broke his Queens of Stone Age LP though. Everyone has a different trigger.. Anyway, I'm away to Youtube to listen to some Queens of Stone Age, they seem to have passed me by.

HeavyDrinker
No. I'd been waiting a good while just to listen to the QOTSA LP and with me new phones in, I only had the drama in bits and bobs until the whole drama had unfolded... I just thought the old boy was pissed again and someone had tried to nick some of his blooms. It's a sweet album though, Quite excellent.
HeavyDrinker
Strange that she would shout "daddy daddy" In English.....rather than EU EU which is Khmer for daddy? You have to read the forum guidelines as regards to language use outside the Thai language forum plus it's more like ' (ai) Pook (ai) Pook' than 'Eu Eu' . lannarebirth
Strange that she would shout "daddy daddy" In English.....rather than EU EU which is Khmer for daddy? Is that pronounced "you you" in English? If so I may be father to a nation.
