thaigerd
Can someone tell me how much is a Canon 20D here in Thailand? May be some experiences aswell with this camera. Thanks for ur help! Gerd
Nordlys
Canon 20D production has been discontinued and was recently replaced by 30D. Not sure if 30D is already in Thai market yet but I would suggest you get 30D even if you can still find 20D, unless they give you substantial discount. Here are prices of 30D (and 20D) in Thailand. http://www.fotofile.net/main.html http://www.worldcamera.co.th/ http://www.meecamera.com/products2/main.php?mainid=1 http://www.photobugonline.com/product.php?c=1&cateid=1 http://digital2home.com/product.php?type=1...1&by=&pagesize= http://www.ec-mall.com/index.php?cPath=1_4...60d8931d43ac610
hughden
20D was discontinued a couple of months ago when the 30D was announced. There was some stock available in BKK but they cleared it out last week I think (disappeared off their web site). The 30D arrived in stock two days ago and I am off to BKK this morning to collect mine. Price is around 55,000 baht which is slightly higher than KL or Singapore; but then some bargaining has yet to be done. I will ask them if they have any 20D left and will report back later today. 20D is/was a fine camera and the 30D is even better. Looking forward to upgrading from my 300D. Nordlys
hughden, you might know it already but Canon has already announced a firmware update for 30D. hughden
Went to Fotofile this morning. They brought in 30 pieces of the 30D; they had nine left when I left the shop. Price is 55,400 (slightly lower than the official Canon price). They have no more 20D in stock. Initial reaction compared to 300D; turns on instantly, reviews pics instantly on nice new screen, burst mode is incredibly fast (I have about 15 shots of an elephant taken on the way home in a couple of seconds; none of which I need of course!). Feels solid in the hands and I shall now spend the evening playing with it and reading the 200 page manual. The firmware upgrade is related to Chinese language handling I understand, but will probably upgrade it anyway, in case there are some other goodies hidden inside. thaigerd
Sorry when I ask again: This is not a cheap one and it looks(for me) very professional. Would I be able to work with it??? Can I make video aswell ?? Sorry for bothering u with my questions Gerd
Nordlys
Would I be able to work with it??? You can, if you want to be able to work with it. Can I make video aswell ?? Unfortunately, no. You can not shoot video with digital SLR (single lens reflex). Nor do they usually have voice recording feature (unlike some point-and-shoot compact digital cameras). Like the film SLR, dSLR features are usually only limited to still photography.

The SLR, whether film or digital is built to do a precise job. Not to be all things to everybody.
