prices of health check-ups for children

Featured Replies

Does anyone know the price for a full health check up for children age 8 and 10 at either Bangkok-Pattaya, Samitivej, Phayathai or Pattaya International hospitals?

I have contacted them, but they all were quite evasive and none gave me even an approximative cost.

Thank you in advance

This is because they do not have check-up packages for those ages.

Believe it or not, well-child check-ups are not common in Thailand and to the extent they are done at all, usually cursory and part iof regularly scheduled visit for vaccination.

Try the Bangkok Child Center affiliated with Samitivej (but not to be confused with the other branches of Samitivej) as they specifically focus on well-child care

In terms of cost I would be surprised if it exceeded a few thousand baht max as unless the child is symptomatic, and that much only if a hearing tests is included.

Basically at this age what is needed is a physical examination (listening to heart, lungs, palpating lymph nodes etc), a review of immunizations received, weight/height and calculation of BMI, a stool test for parasites, vision test (simple eye chart) and a hearing test though if one has been done in the past couple of years and found normal might be omitted. If there is season to suspect anemia or infection then a complete blood count might be indicated but usually no blood work unless the physical exam suggests some abnormality.
