One British holidaymaker is arrested every two hours as they travel abroad in search of cheap drink and sun.

More than 5,400 were detained by police overseas last year, including 653 held in connection with drug offences.

It would be interesting to have some compative figures of a comperable population being involved in these sorts of incidents if they remained home. They would have to be based on days of residence or something like that.

I know that statisticly at some stages of the war in vietnam it was safer to be posted there than remain home as deaths in that age group due to motor vehicles etc were much higher in their home country.

Just an other sign the Brits can't behave us Dutch are angels the quality tourists the look for (when we are not selling drugs or using it) so ban all the Brits from entering Thailand then that mandatory insurance is not necessary.

Thailand should hurry up and introduce the mandatory health insurance for farangs they were talking about

Sure blame it on the hostcountry, that Brits drive drunk, don't use a helmet and take drugs!!whistling.gif

And how exactly would a mandatory health insurance change that behavior??

To make it a measure of things, one would have to know how many Brits are going overseas. = percentage.

Cheers.

More specifically the increase in numbers and the demographics. If there has been an increase in young males, then that would explain alot. Young males in every country are the the people who are most likely to misbehave.

That came from the Daily Mail..... say no more!

One quote from a reader.....

5,400 arrests out of 36.3 million Brits in 2012 who traveled abroad is not a high number at all.

not even 0.2% if that figure quoted is correct.
