Proper off-roaders smile.png

We have a 2K6 LR very similar to this one in the shop

at the moment undergoing maintenance & refit so we

can take it on the road/off the road later this year.

Ours is darn near exactly the same save the weapons

mounts had to be removed per Customs orders but

the mounts pedestals are still there & make great support

for fluid heads. Work being done is replacing the axles

with Volvo axles, some engine mods, beefed up suspension,

having a canvass top made up($$$), and some creature

comforts like a stereo installed & a 12vdc reefer!

Ours is a kinda crap grey colour but who cares...

Our current beastie who is sadly gettin old and needs

much work done to keep her road-worthy. This pic is

about 15 years old and taken in Malaysia after a wash job.

But we're not gonna get rid of her....she just needs a lotta

pricey parts to make her well again. Best damned vehicle

I have ever owned.

@Sunshine.

Love landrovers, want to get hold of one at some point. Looked at a short wheelbase (90) in Rayong a couple of years ago, was in good condition but the guy wanted 900K for it. Will get one one day thumbsup.gif

Landies are bloody pricey here matey and so are replacement

parts if you want original LR kit. That's why many LR's here

have have a hodge-podge(sp?!) of Japanese kit in them because

it's way cheaper. Malaysia is a great source of parts but some

mechanics there are dodgy because they just don't know. Mal

has a long history with LR's from the colonial days...however

with that said...they ain't cheap down there either but parts

are fairly reasonable.

When I bought Giselle in Kampooch back in 1994 brand new she

cost me 25K USD (tax exempt) with pre-delivery inspection.

110 LR Defender w/ V6 turbo diesel & 2 sets of run flat

tires-10 total. No aircon, no power steering...but I finally

had my own instead of driving somebody else's or a company

truck. She still has no aircon and is a bit sick but help

is on the way. She's a strong girl.

The nice thing about LR's is that no matter what wheelbase

you settle for...you'll be very happy! Plus there's much more

to be happy about but I'm not getting paid by LR to promote

such a fine product am I...hah! When you get yours....have fun

& enjoy.
