July 21, 201312 yr I want to use my 7" tablet as a GPS navigation in my car. But can't find a decent holder for it. (Pattaya-area) Didn't look in Pantip until now. I could order one from Amazon e.g., but I would prefer to buy locally, because of a "quality-check" Any ideas?
July 21, 201312 yr Maybe easier to buy direct - and cheaper ! http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/store/Product.aspx?C=1155&SC=1162&ID=1663
July 21, 201312 yr There's a RAM mount to attach just about anything to just about anything else http://www.rammount.com/ superb quality but not cheap. Can't speak for Pattaya but there are a couple of places in Fortune and Pantip (Bangkok) doing these so you ought to be able to get what you need. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
July 21, 201312 yr Author ^^ The price is secondary. I know, a decent holder will be probably in the 2000+ Baht range. But I don't like a vibrating device, or more worse: a tablet which falls down every few minutes.
July 22, 201312 yr If you get a suction cup version make sure it has a lever to really get good suction and to release. I got one for use on sailboat for navigation, works fine and get far more bumps and vibrations than most cars.
July 22, 201312 yr I must say, 7" is too big to mount on windshield, unless you drive a truck (not pick up). Only place I found suitable for 7" nexus in my camry is in front of clock, which cuts tablet area by 30 percent and rest is okay. You need to figure out how to mount your tablet before buy one. Only some can provide you with the flexibility and they are sold here in Bangkok a little bit expensive.
July 22, 201312 yr i bought this Ram Mount for my Nexus 7 from GPS4You at Fortune. cost 2000bant and works great. there's a flat spot on my dash that i put the suction cup on instead of the windshield.

That looks like what I would like, but I have a new Samsung Galaxy Note 8 which is slightly bigger than the Nexus. Is that Ram Mount adjustable at all to hold an 8"? What floor is that shop on?
July 22, 201312 yr it should fit no problem. the one i've got says it holds 5.75" width maximum. i looked up the Note 8 and it's supposed to be 5.35" wide. the shop is on the second floor near the escalator on the Tesco side.
