Will it flood in Bangkok this year?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

Just watching Channel 3 news now and it seems that the rain up North, in places such as Chiang Mai, has been pretty mental the past few days. I know that all the run off shall come down to us city slickers at some point.

Is it time to get prepared for the worst? I was caught in the spray when the brown stuff hit the fan last time, and I had to evacuate.

Time to stock-up and lock-up, or sit-back and don't crack?

To be honest I dont worry about it yet and like you i got caught up in it last time. Its much to early to flood not enough has fallen the river will drain it. Once you start hearing about real big parts upriver getting flooded then get ready.

No, because the dams aren't nearly as full as they were before. That was the reason for the floods, they had to release a large amount of water from the dams.

No, not this year!

If you live on the 10th floor in a 20 story building and the toilet drain stops up between the ninth and tenth floor you should prepare for a flood! This is about as reliable as predicting whether or not it will flood in Bangkok this year!

My fortune teller tells me that it will not flood unless it does! About as accurate as the Metrological Dept.

I hope it does

I hope it does

That is a rather nasty comment for the people who have lived through it like me. There is nothing funny about it that is for sure.

This year I don't worry those dams can hold a lot of water.

Nope. It's not a La Nina year, so SE Asia will not get unusually high levels of rainfall.

They allow thieves and crooks to run the country ... they get what they deserve

I would be ok if Chang Mai and Isaan became oceans

Wonder if you have lived through the flood.. if you did you would not wish it on anyone.

I don't wish it on anyone.

And even if I wished it on them it would be a stupid wish because water has the tendency to flow down towards where I live.
