Buy booking document from someone who already booked the car that you want, anybody did it ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Many people are selling booking documents for cars that they booked, some with profit, some not (just asking the 50k that they paid for booking).

Has anybody done it ? Is it actually legal and what could be the problems ?

I wonder why many people are waiting 5 months or 1 year that Benz delivers a new car when it is so easy to pay 50000 or 100000 to someone to jump the queue and get your car next month ?

Seems too easy to be true and this is Thailand, so I prefer to ask.

In Thai the documents is called ใบจอง (document to book) and for example you can find many ads there:

Thank you for your info.

No experience in buying but experience in being jumped over.

I had ordered a Toyota form a dealer at Seri Thai Road, paid the down and waited 2 monts for delivery. Then he called me that the car is there and ready and I should bring the cashier's check and get the car delivered. I went to the bank to get the check and showed up at the dealer.

But to my surprise there was no car (a Camry) and he denied having called me. I said, my wife heard you too.

Obviously someone else had paid him more to jump the line and take "my" car.

He refunded me the down payment and I promised him that I will never again in my life try to buy a Toyota.

And the bank charged me also to take back the check.

What was I thinking in the first place. A Toyota, seriously?

Yes, Toyota I don't even want to try :-)

But the problem is that with Benz also the waiting list is 5 months to 1 year, and I found that many people who booked the car actually sell their booking documents.

Just wondering if some famous scams have been reported but cannot find info in Thai.

Can someone move this post to the CAR section of the forum ? Maybe it will get more replies ?

Thanks.

Because I prefer to buy a Merc in my name than a house that will never belong to me !

And condos ? I have enough already... :-)

About the Merc I still haven't found anybody with buying booking documents experience, weird.

I ordered a car and changed my mind and was just going to forget about the 5,000 thb booking fee. but the wife sold the booking and got 5,000 thb.. as far as I could tell it was not difficult exchanging the name on the order
