tigerjohn Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 hi due to the changes due in october weve decided to apply for my wifes citizenship now as she has been here 3yrs middle of this month, my question is this, like i say she came on 16th aug 2010 and her 2 boys came on 11th june 2011, now we know she has every right to apply but can anyone please explain about the boys because they have only been here just over 2yrs, but they did get ilr same time as their mum so does the same apply to citizenship or do they have to wait the 3yrs??? thanks in advance for any of you knowlegable members advice.
7by7 Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Assuming that they are under 18 and have ILR or ILE they can apply for registration at the same time as their mother applies for naturalisation. They do not have to meet the knowledge of life and language in the UK requirement. If over 13 they need to have been living in the UK for at least 2 years, which you say they have. See under Registration of a child at British Citizenship Basics and the links from there for more detail and how to apply.
tigerjohn Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 thanks for clearing that up as usual 7by7
