Taxi : Hat Yai -> Penang

Featured Replies

Hi,

Does anyone know what time the last taxi leaves for Penang from Hat Yai be it a weekend or during the week. Maybe even to Sado. Are there Penang bound taxis from Sado?

Thanks

I do not believe the share taxi runs any schedule. The ones that I used departed when they had a full car or you paid for the trip (believe it used to be 1,500 baht). Early morning about 7ish if I recall correctly to get a share ride.

Believe there is taxi service from the Malaysian side of the border to Penang also - if not am sure there is from the town 10km down the road where most bus/taxi stop for food/exchange service.

Thanks! :o

Hi aqua4,

From Hatyai main market, take an air-con van to Danok (Malaysian border).

Cost about 50Baht per person. The van will move when 11 passengers

are packed in. Normally, every 15 minutes, more or less.

It takes more than an hour to reach the Danok, Thailand/Bukit Kayu Hitam,

Malaysia border check point.

Cross the Thai border, and walk about a short distance to your left,

and you are in Malaysian territory. The Malaysian taxis are stationed on

your left. Walk a few hundred yards, and you will see the Malaysian

Duty Free Shopping Complex.

The Malaysian Immigration, Police, and Cutoms are a short distance

away from the Malaysian Duty free complex.

A friendly word of advice. Mere possession of illegal drugs carry the

mandatory death penalty.

Have a pleasant trip.

The only thing I can add is that 100 baht to one of the taxi drivers will get a car to take you down to the border station and back.
