non im ED visa

Featured Replies

HI,

I got into some problems with the request for an non im ed visa. There were floods in Manila last week and the embassy didn't open until Thursday, I actually wanted to go on Monday. So when i got there they said it would take 4 days which I didn,t have. To make a long story short. They agreed to do it within 2 days and i had to pay 7000p. I only had 5000p so i told them i need to go change some money. Since she was in a hurry she propossed me to buy a single entry for 3 months and just extend that in Thailand. I was glad that it could be done but now im doubting that decision.

So its a 3 month single entry non im ED visa. Does anyone have experience with this? what I need is a Thai drivers license. Don't I need a year visa for this? They also kept all my other papers from the school who helped me get the visa. So basically i have nothing in my possion other than the visa.

Any thoughts?

tnx

The single gives an entry of 90 days, which can be extended by 1 year every year with paperwork from the school.

As single entry is normal should not be an issue and extensions are normally available for students. It is surprising that Manila would even issue a multi entry. Is this full time university study by chance? If you do not mind what is your nationality? That Embassy is normally very strict with visa issue and almost none in the area provide multi entry these days.

You can get a drivers license with a tourist visa. The problem is getting a certificate of residence from immigration but you can get one from your embassy.

If you are enrolled in a course of study at a school that qualifies you can get an extension of stay at immigration.

Tnx for your quick answers.

The school is a language centre so nothing fancy. There was actually a girl from costa rica infront of me and she wanted a multiple entry tourist visa. Not sure if she got it but they accepted her application without any problem.

Im from Holland.

I have a Dutch drivers license plus international certificate. I it want to change it into a Thai one. A recidence card would also be possible accoording to the school (if im not mistaking) but i will have to figure that out tomorrow.

Anyone info on where i can get these things done in Pattaya?

School will have to provide documents for you to get extension of stay at immigration in Jomtien.

They will do residence certificate there also. There have reports of them doing them with tourist visas.
