2nd part of double entry tourist visa not honoured; still valid?

Featured Replies

Hi,

this is my first post to the forum.

I have a double entry tourist visa from Vientiane, issued in May 2013. I used the first part when entering Thailand from Laos after getting the visa. I then left the country in July shortly before the first 2-months period of the visa expired to Europe and came back last weekend.

I recognized only now after arriving back in the apartment that the immigration officer at Suvarnabhumi airport issued me only a 4-weeks tourist visa on arrival. That is he either didn't notice the double entry tourist visa or he just ignored it. Whatever the reason, my question is the following:

- Is the second entry part of the double entry tourist visa still valid (there is no 'Used' stamp on the double entry tourist visa page)? That is, after 4 weeks, can I leave Thailand to some neighboring country, e.g. by land (or does it have to be through an airport?) to Myanmar or Laos, and be entitled to this second entry based on my double entry tourist visa? Basically, giving me a 5-months stay based on 2 (first part of double entry) +1 (4 weeks tourist visa on arrival) + 2 months (second part of double entry).

Any help highly appreciated!

Thanks,

Christian

Visa is/was likely invalid and that is the reason you got a 30 day visa exempt entry - such a visa issued in May would have expired in August as are only valid for 3 months from date of issue - there will be a use by/before on the actual visa with that expiration date.
