Baggage Transfer CMX-BKK-LHR

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I've had my bags transferred when flying BKK Airways and Eva but can't see on the BA website any affiliation with any other airlines that would fly CMX to BKK. I realise that I'm posting in the CM forum and this might be more relevant to the Travel forum but I'm posting here to see if anyone who has travelled this route before knows.

Many thanks

Thai air flies Chiang Mai Bangkok and transfers luggage to Eva Air.

You will not find a cut rate air line to do it. that is one of the things they do to hold their price down.

Besides they fly out of Don Mueng and Eva out of Swampy.

Bangkok Air used to codeshare with EVA but now that EVA has joined Star Alliance the natural link is to THAI domestic to CNX. There are no low cost carriers using SUV, they have all moved to Don Mueang.

Bangkok Air has never been an LCC and still uses SUV.

I have flown the other way with BA (LHR-BKK-CNX) a few months ago and there was no codeshare agreement with Thai Air on the BKK-CNX leg....pain.....had to go through BKK customs, pick up luggage and check-in again.

I have flown Chiang Mai to Bangkok with Bangkok Air and they transferred my luggage to Eva air. For onward to Seattle.

The same carriers coming back. The only inconvenience coming back is a longer wait time in Bangkok for the return to Chiang Mai when I used Bangkok Air.

Sorry I couldent remember all the air port codes and had to give4 the names of the cities.

But if you like letters here you go. EPXMTJHWLCUTYNNDNLtongue.png

Guess your definition of budget differs from mine, I flew Thai Smile and they transferred my bags. I count them as a budget as their prices are comparable to budget operators ;-)
