Bee's go on holidays?

Just wondering whether anyone knew much about bees here. When my trees flowered a couple of months ago I reckon there was a shortage of bees, plenty of other insects buzzing around doing their thing but I could see hardly any bees, consequently the early flowering trees have got little fruit. Due to heavy rain I reapplied sodium and got a lot more trees to flower and the bees are back big time so I have fruit. Never seen any commercial looking hives only people gathering wild hives obviously so does agriculture here rely on wild bees only? It didn't seem to worry the local corn crops.

No evidence to back my shortage statement only just my observations.

The wild bees can be very aggressive if you get anywhere near their nest.

Whenever a colony tries to set up home anywhere near a house, the locals will light a fire underneath to drive them away.

I do the same, because it is impossible to do anything near the nest without them attacking you.

Eventually, they will find a home away from people, but within flying distance of your nectar giving blossoms
