AirAsia X to start Thai brand

Featured Replies

Low cost carrier AirAsia X is reportedly on the verge of introducing Thai AirAsia X, which will be based on the same model as its Malaysian parent.

The carrier wants to follow a strategy of challenging medium and long-haul airlines on what it believes has been an uncontested market share.

The company is aiming for a launch in early 2014 and is expected to start business with two wide-bodied A330s running services between Don Mueang Airport and Japan and South Korea.

Could be lucrative. With the new visa-free entry to Japan for Thais, it seems there is a lot of local interest in travel there.

Wish they would come back to the UK.

It's not kind of auspicious to name your carrier 'X'.

Why not just operate them under 'Thai Air Asia' ?

I don't care what they call it but wish they would start a CNX-Europe (anywhere) flight ASAP.

I heard on local news our regional airport is to be upgraded to accomodate international flights, I sure do hope that's an opening for Air Asia direct flights Williamtown (newcastle AUST) to kuala lumpar from there anywhere in asia.
