Two seriously injured in South Pattaya drunken road crash

PATTAYA:--Two motorbike drivers were seriously injured in a collision between their vehicles in South Pattaya early on Thursday Morning.

Police and rescue services were called to the scene of the crash on Pattaya Third Road just before 8am, which left Khun Anupong aged 28, a Karaoke Bar employee, and Khun Gaewdar aged 61, a food vendor, seriously injured.

A Traffic Police Officer stationed at a crossroads nearby saw the Bar employee drive at speed through a red traffic light and attempted to stop him. He was able to avoid capture but seconds later the officer heard on his radio that a road crash had taken place, involving the speeding driver, who was suspected of being heavily intoxicated.

His bike had crashed into a bike and sidecar driven by the woman who was on her way to sell food at a nearby market. She sustained a suspected broken leg and a deep laceration to the head. The bar worker sustained a serious head injury and was in a semi-conscious state.

I really don't mind when a drunk driver takes himself out of the gene pool; but inevitably there is some innocent collateral damage.
