Non Immigrant O Visa...... 3 Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

It could well be that my questions have been discussed here already. I haven't found the right answers yet.

I'm on a Non Imm O visa, 1 year, multiple entry on grounds of being over 50 years old.

1. Can I get a yearly extension at local immigration when/ before the visa expires ?

2. Do I need border runs, or can I report my adress every 90 days ?

3. If I can get a yearly extension, still need border runs, or (in the 2nd year) possible to report to immigration ?

Thanks for your help

You can do an extension during the last 30 days of any of your 90 day entries.

You do not have to wait for your visa to expire.

After getting extension you will just do 90 day reports to immigration.

After getting extension you need to get a re-entry permit if you wish to travel.

The qualifications for the annual extension based on retirement that you speak of include being over age 50 but of course there are also financial requirements:

1. 800K in Thai bank seasoned for two months before first extension

OR

2. 65K monthly income shown by an embassy letter

OR

3. A combination of above totaling at least 800K annualized (no seasoning needed for this option)

Thanks ubonjoe, that is exactly what I wanted to know. Appreciated.

One more question please:

..........After getting extension you will just do 90 day reports to immigration.

Do I have the option of a border run or the 90 day reporting ??

Cheers

You have that option but you would need re-entry permit. Cost is 1000 baht for a single or 3800 for multiple entry.

Doing 90 day reports is easy and at most offices you can mail them in.

Let's assume, after having the extension plus a re entry permit in my passport, I leave the kingdom and stay abroad for 4 months. Then I will miss out on the 90 day reporting date. What consequences would that have ?
