First time UK Passport for half British baby

(1) The website stated it needs 6 weeks to apply, actually how long does it require?

(2) Will the applicant (father or mother) be contacted by phone or email if any additional information required?

(3) Any interview required?

(4) Any medical history or document required to provide rather the birth certificate?

(5) What will happen if there is no body at home when DHL deliver the new passport? Will they leave a memo or notice for you to pick up?

(6) Will I be noticed when the passport is on the way to my hand?

1) People have posted here and elsewhere that it has taken less than the 6 weeks the website advises; but a lot of that depends on demand and other checks the passport office may have to make. I'd allow the 6 weeks, possibly a bit more, were I you.

2) Don't know.

3) No; not for child applicants.

4) No medical documents are required.

You need to provide the child's birth certificate showing you as the father and your long form birth certificate. If you don't have your long form certificate you can obtain one from the General Registry Office.

Here if you were born in England or Wales;

Here if in Scotland;

Here if born in Northern Ireland.

You should also supply any other documents listed in the guidance on the application form.

5 & 6 ) Don't know.

Forgot to say that any documents not in English, such as the child's Thai birth certificate, should be accompanied by a certified English translation.

Don't forget the child is also a Thai citizen, so get them a Thai passport as well; s/he can then use this to enter and leave Thailand without any restriction.

Bothe the UK and Thailand allow dual nationality.

7by7, thank you for quick reply. Actually I have submitted the application on around 20th already and I tracked the DHL and knew that it had been reached the embrassy in Hong Kong last week. I'm just wondering any buddies has recently applied and how long to take to receive the passport (I saw some post it stated 3 weeks and 4 weeks, but the posts were few years ago, I just want to see what is the updated actual time required, I believe it shall be much shorter than the time, 6 weeks, mentioned in the UK gov. website).

You'll get a call from the Hong Kong office if they need to make any other enquiries.

If you are not at home the DHL delivery guy will phone you to arrange delivery.

The Hong Kong office don't send a letter saying the passport is on it's way it will just arrive.

Thank you Jay. Anyone actually had received call from the Hong Kong office for other enquiries? What were the enquiries about? As I am out of Thailand at the moment and don't know why the roaming services of my Thai number (which I put on the form) is not working. I am very worrying about missing call from Hong Kong office and caused delay on my application.

A friend of my made a mistake with his date of birth decades ago so his passport showed him being two years younger than he is. It's been renewed three times over the years but it took an eagle eyed young official in Hong Kong to spot it. He got a nice polite phone call and the matter was settled quickly and had no impact on the child's passport.

I think you're fretting about nothing.
